Schedule of Events

July 17th, 18th and 19th, 2015

Theme:  Cartoons

 (Dress or decorate as your favorite cartoon or comic book character)

FRIDAY (17th)       

 3:00 p.m. Children’s Scavenger Hunt at Rec Centre.  Individual event.  All children 12 years old and under welcome to participate. Sponsored by the Village of Tahsis           

5:00 p.m. Rock the Dock at Westview Marina.  Come and enjoy a steak dinner and listen to the music of Luke (Blue) Guthrie          

5:00 p.m. Dinner and Movie at Rec Centre for children ages 4 – 12.  Public swim 6:30 p.m.  Fun and games in the pool.  Sponsored by the Village of Tahsis          

5:30 p.m. Teen/Adult/Family Scavenger Hunt.   Team must consist of 4 persons - family members (including children), teens, and adults.  No more than 2 children on a team.  This is a digital scavenger hunt – so make sure to bring one electronic device per team to take pictures!  Registration at event.  Sponsored by the Village of Tahsis

SATURDAY (18th)

 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Fundraiser Breakfast at the Rec Centre.  Start your day off with some good food.  All proceeds to go to the Tahsis Christian Church Society.           
  
10:30 a. m. sharp Children's Bike Decorating – at the Info Centre Parking Lot.  Decorate your bike to look like your favorite cartoon.  Sponsored by the Village of Tahsis         

11:00 a.m. sharp Parade – Starts at the Maquinna Plaza parking lot.  Prize for best raft in the parade.  Sponsored by Tahtsa Dive Charters, ShorebirdExpeditions, Tahsis Supermarket and Nootka Gold B & B.        

10:00 a.m. –  7:00 p.m.  Seniors Society Beer Garden and Chip & Putt – Field behind Rec Centre.  $10.00 entry fee per person for Chip and Putt.  Sponsored by the Tahsis Seniors Society.        

11:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Lions Club BBQ at the Rec Centre.  Hot dogs, hamburgers, and pop for sale.  Sponsored by the Tahsis Lions Club.        

3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Seniors Society BBQ at the Rec Centre.  Hot dogs, hamburgers, and pop for sale.  Sponsored by the Tahsis Seniors Society.         

1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Zucchini Decorating - at the Rec Centre – come and decorate your zucchini for the race.  Must use a zucchini for your race car body and only vegetables and/or fruit for the wheels.  Supplies provided.  Sponsored by Captain Meares Farm to School.         

2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Zucchini  Races - at the Rec Centre.  All ages can participate.  Should be fun to watch.  Sponsored by Captain Meares Farm to School.        

 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Silent Auction – Rec Centre common room.  Viewing of items and bidding.  Sponsored by the Village of Tahsis.         

4:30 p.m. River Raft Race – Great Prizes.  Extra prize if raft in the parade.  Sponsored by Brenda Overton.          

5:30 p.m. Duck Race – Does your duck have what it takes to win?  Sponsored by Tahsis Hospital Auxiliary and Tony Ellis.         

10:00 p.m. Outdoor Movie “Loony Toons” at the Rec Centre.  Snacks can be purchased.  Sponsored by Tahsis Artisans' Co-op and Glyn Howell.

Raft Race 2012

SUNDAY (19th)

10:00 a.m. Children’s Putt & Golf – held at field behind Rec Centre.  Sponsored by the Seniors Society.         

12:00 noon Tahsis Days Cook off Competition – at Rec Centre. Enter your favorite main dish (at least 10 servings).  Tickets will be sold at the door for persons wishing to judge the entries.  Tickets $10.00 each.  Cash prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place favorite entrees.  No desserts, please.  Bring your main entrée dish at 11:30 before the doors open to the public. 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Silent Auction – Rec Centre common room.  Viewing of items and bidding.  At 7:00 p.m. winners will be declared.Sponsored by the Village of Tahsis..          

2:00 p.m. Slugfest - At the Community Garden. Children’s scavenger hunt, crafting, and of course slug hunting.  Prizes are given out.  Sponsored by the Tahsis Community Garden Society with special presentation by Gayle Bates (Comox Strathcona Waste Management)          

4:00 p.m. Jell-O Eating Competition - outside the Rec Centre.  All ages are invited to participate.  Sponsored by Allison Stiglitz.          

5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. BBQ – outside the Rec Centre - Pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw, and refreshments may be purchased.  Sponsored by the Tahsis Volunteer Fire Department
