Rock The Dock at Westview this Friday, July 2. The musician is Doug Folkins- www.dougfolkins.com.
Tahsis is a remote village on the west coast of Vancouver Island. With only 400 residents, we don't have many of the conveniences of larger towns but we do have community spirit and lots to do in our spectacularly wild and beautiful environment.

More Internet Speed tests needed
Hello Mark,
Earlier this week I spoke with Kerri-Anne from Tanex Engineering (UBCM Internet Speed Researcher). They plan to use all internet speed tests completed up to July 1, 2021 in an initial findings report, however, a final report will use data collected to the end of August 2021. To validate the data, researchers are looking for 20% of households to complete internet speed tests. At this time, Tahsis is below 20%. My records show 140 tests were completed by 27 unique addresses, I have attached a summary of the results below.
We are helping to spread the word to obtain more test results. The SRD has created some additional posts on social media and hope Village staff could again repost or share the links below to encourage residents to complete the speed test.
The link to the speed test is: https://performance.cira.ca/bc
Here are some posts that can be shared on social media:

First summer market
The first outdoor summer market of 2021 was held on Saturday in scorching hot weather. Eleven vendors attended (thank you all) and about 50 shoppers. The heat got too much for us and we closed down early. Hoping the July 31 market has more pleasant weather.

Message from Allison
I'm sad to announce the passing of Glenda Douglas ...... wife of Jack, friend of Tahsis. Glenda always had a wave and smile to everyone that went by her home. She is missed dearly.

Road report
Message from Paul Dunn-Morris
Debra and I went into town today, and I thought that you might like to mention the state of the road to your ‘readers’.
Our side of the summit is really quite bad. The potholes are evenly distributed from Tahsis to the summit; and they are really quite nasty: deep and filling the road from side to side. They are a danger to rims and tie rods, not to mention causing blowouts!
The following photo might give some idea of the nature of such:
. . . although it is difficult to imagine the scale.
The following is probably one of the worst (my glasses might give an idea of the scale):
But don’t take my word for the dangers . . . the road crew discovered them for themselves!
Notice that the writing on the truck says: Paving and Recovery.

Internet speed test
Reminder to run the speed test at the link below as many times as possible. The results will be used to show that Tahsis needs better internet service. On the webpage, press start. The test runs itself.

Think It-Make It with 3D Printing
Only found out now that the library can do 3D printing.
3D Printing Service Now Available for all
VIRL Branches
At the Creativity Commons, there have been
some great 3D prints being made for customers
and now we’re opening this service to all
39 VIRL branches!
Send us a .STL file to cc@virl.bc.ca with your
branch details, preferred filament colour, and
anything we might need to know about your
file. Staff in the Creativity Commons will assess
the file to ensure it fits within our 6-hour max
printing window and connect with you about any
issues. It’ll take 1-2 weeks for us to print your
file, apply quarantine procedures, and ship to
your branch for pickup. Printing costs $0.10/gram.
Once your file is ready, Creativity Commons
staff will let you know when your print has
shipped to your branch. Your local branch staff
will then connect with you to arrange a pick-up.
