Bull of the Woods Trail invitation

Have you wanted to go on the Bull of the Woods Trail but didn't want to go alone? Dave and Stella Richards are taking company from Saskatchewan on the hike on Thursday, August 31 at 9:30 (weather permitting) and invite anyone else to join them. The beginning of the trail is just past the Maquinna Motel. There is a parking spot not far up that has a marker.

NoSoF has begun

Here are some photos of the last of the set up and sound check. The music festival began yesterday and will be going full bore today from noon. The stage is a construction miracle. There is lots of beach space to sit, bring chairs or a blanket. You'll want to be able to say, "Yes, I was at the first one."

We are all a bit curious about progress at the Tahsis Farm site. (The land that used to be owned by Robbie Russell, just past West Bay beach.) They have started a beautiful website to keep us up to date on what is happening. Check it out at tahsisfarm.com

Salmon Enhancement Fishing Derby

The biggest event of the summer happens next weekend - The Salmon Enhancement Fishing Derby. All are invited to the wrap up bbq and prize presentation ceremony on Saturday.

The Seniors' Centre will host a community pot luck for the dental staff on Tuesday, August 22 at 6:00 pm. All are welcome and bring a dish to share.

Bronze Medallion Course Starts Tomorrow (Friday, August 11)

These courses usually cost $300 but here is an opportunity to get them for free. Contact the Rec Centre to register 250-934-6443 or stop by to talk to Sarah J.

Nootka Sounds invite community involvement in festival

Nootka Sounds music group is planning their first music festival and welcome community involvement. They are inviting vendors to come to Tahsis Farm (formerly Robbie Russell's land) and be part of the weekend. They envision the atmosphere to be much like a school bazaar with tables selling food and merchandise.  Tahsis Artisans' Coop plans to take part.

The festival is scheduled to begin on Friday, August 25 at noon and run til sunset on Sunday, August 27.

August 8th activities at Tahsis Public Library

Weather report

Locals are well aware of the weather we have had the last few days, but for you far away it has been at least +37C for the last three days. So odd for Tahsis. We have some smoke from fires on the mainland. As far as I know there are no fires on the island. Danielle took these photos. Hard to shoot because the smoke is so thick, the camera found it hard to focus.
