NNS NNS is working hard to prepare Christmas Hampers for 2026, please share this post with every Tahsis Resident In Need to ensure we don't miss a single household.
To donate we thank you in advance for you generosity, and you can send e transfers to donationnnsnns@gmail.com
We should have donation boxes around town soon for non perishables, and cash can be left in a sealed envelope where registration forms can be picked up.
We are a non profit, but not a registered charity (yet?) so we can not provide a tax receipt.
Registration forms are available at the Village Office, as well as the Recreation Centre, or by emailing infonnsnns@gmail.com , please fill them out completely, noting any allergies, dietary restrictions, or any other important information and sign them, and return them in the envelopes provided by December 17.
Hampers will be delivered on December 21, we ask that you make sure you are available to receive them at your home, or make arrangements for another adult to attend. If it is not possible for you to receive your hamper on December 21, please email infonnsnns@gmail.com so we can make other arrangements, but obviously with food being perishable, and everyone's cold storage space being limited we hope you understand the importance of the date.
One hamper per household and Tahsis residents only.
We are not asking anyone to prove need, purely that you measure your own need. It is sad that these programs have failed over the years, especially in small communities and we hope to continue this as long as we can, because we know as well as anyone that every year just feeding our families has gotten harder. Every hamper will get filled. But how much fills each one is dependant on how many registrations we receive
We started this program last year, and the phrase "it takes a village" is true. It is a huge undertaking and last year was brought to everyone's homes by the heartwarming and generous donations of our neighbors and friends. This year we started our fund raising with a food drive in Campbell River, and are well on track to meet our goals.
We want to thank BCEHS and Superstore Campbell River for faciliting that, and the amazing shoppers who filled the ambulance and made for a slow and heavy trip home. We are receiving local donations as well, as well as from the contractors and businesses who work within the village. As with last year, we will have some people to thank who don't live here, but remembered all of us during the holiday season.
Our goal is to reach further next year. We are not the only village struggling. Christmas is a time for happiness, and family, and we hope this small gesture helps take the load off to those in need.
We will also say that we have been in discussions with Santa this year again, and he is not going to miss a single child in the village. If your child attends school, we will have them on Santas list very soon, and if they do not please email us so we can make sure to pass it along.
Merry Christmas to all of Tahsis, and a happy new Year.
