Tahsis is a remote village on the west coast of Vancouver Island. With only 400 residents, we don't have many of the conveniences of larger towns but we do have community spirit and lots to do in our spectacularly wild and beautiful environment.

North Island 1000 event
Weather is looking GOOD for the Tahsis Trail Clearing day, this Saturday Sept. 28. Ride your bike or quad. Some are traveling Friday and camping in Tahsis, some are getting a motel in Gold River and riding up Saturday morning. Some are thinking about the early 6:30 start from Campbell River. Meeting at the Tahsis boat launch parking lot at 9am. If you can't get there by then follow the road out of Tahsis (gravel) it takes a sharp right and gains elevation. One rocky section at the start, one old bridge to cross, one dry creek bed, ride10km there are no other roads so you can't get lost. If you are planning to have some of Mrs. Sharma's Curry you will have to pre-order before you go. Phone to order 250-934-6232 hours open 12-6pm.
The Local closes for bear season
At this time of year, the bears turn their attention to The Local. Twice they’ve torn into it and made a huge mess. The Local will be closed down October 1 and reopen around December 1 when the bear watchers say they haven’t spotted any lately. Stock up on jam. You can contact Lynn Gordon for more during the break.
