With only 400 residents, we don't have many of the conveniences of larger towns but we do have community spirit and lots to do in our spectacularly wild and beautiful environment.

Community Tree lighting
(Writing and photos from Lauren)
An old tradition in a new way! Our community Christmas tree lighting, sponsored by the Tahsis Lions Club, has been a bit of a roller coaster since having to “retire” our original community Christmas tree a couple years ago. They tried a new tree the following year but the lights got trashed in the winter storms & last year they weren’t able to make it happen at all for multiple reasons. But this year it is BACK & it was worth the wait! They didn’t light up one tree, they lit up NINE of them! It wasn’t the usual gathering with hotdogs, hot chocolate, & a bonfire this year but half a dozen of us braved the rain to watch the lights come on! 😀 HUGE thank you to the Lions Club for purchasing the new lights & the many hours they spent decorating the trees (also sometimes in the rain).

December events
Lauren has made this great calendar with all the reminders in one spot. Thanks to TLS for financing it.
TLS Wreath making
This event is a winner for so many reasons.
- It's free.
- You end up with a decoration that would cost a bundle at the florist.
- It's easy with a bunch of helpers to assist.
- The organizers go out and collect lots of a variety of greenery.
You can make a wreath or a centerpiece or a swag. (Directions below). If you don't have all the items on the supply list, come anyway. We'll share.
Here is a video which tells how easy it is to make a greenery swag.
