August 25th will be the official opening of the Just Like Home Lodge in Campbell River, funded by Strathcona Regional District and Accessible Canada. The purpose of this lodge will be to provide affordable accommodation for patients and caregivers travelling to Campbell River for medical care. It has eight units plus two accessible units. Nightly costs will range from $78-$99 per night, with free parking. It is located adjacent to the Campbell River hospital. Tahsis Days was a highlight of July, with many entries in the parade with this year's circus-themed event. It was great to see so many local musicians playing later that afternoon, with performances ranging from acoustic to electronic, with some unique audience participation at the end. Everybody had a great time. I was sorry to hear of the passing of Cameron Reed earlier today. He has been a long time resident of our community and employee of Westview Marina. I have known him and his family since my first visits to Tahsis over 40 years ago. On behalf of the Village, I extend condolences to his friends and family. He will be missed.
