A favourite year round destination, the Bull of the Woods trail is a great place to hike. It's a free activity that visitors to Tahsis appreciate, just a short drive past the Maquinna Resort, The scenery is breathtaking, from the ocean and shore to the deep rain forest. Bull of the woods trail is a great place to bring a camera, to capture the tall trees, moss, and ferns that make our coast so beautiful.
The trail is well maintained and if you don't mind a few steep steps along the way, it's not too challenging. There are benches and lookouts for resting, and some of the trees wear plaques to identify the different species. At the end of the trail, you come out at West Bay Beach, a great place for picnicing, picking salmon berries, huckleberries and beach combing. One time my kids found a runaway rubber duckie escaped from the annual river duck race during Tahsis Days!
