I am writing to introduce Paige Sawyer who was recently hired by the Village as a Rural Business Advisor. This one-year position is being made possible thanks to a grant from Island Coastal Economic Trust. Paige’s remit is to support sectors that are crucial to Tahsis' current positioning as a premier ecotourism destination, including: outdoor guiding (fishing, diving, hiking, water sports, climbing and caving), food service and food preparation and processing, and guest accommodation.
The specific focus of the Advisor position will be on helping build capacity in one or more small business fundamentals including: business planning, finance, HR, legal, partnerships, digital technology and e-commerce, grants, and marketing. The role is also critical in supporting the Village’s actions in implementing the Strategic Economic Development Plan.

Paige brings to this role extensive experience in small business, logistics, finance and marketing. We are delighted to have Paige on board as a dedicated resource to support our local businesses. Paige and her family live in Castlegar. She will travel to Tahsis at least 4 times during the year while connecting with businesses remotely at other times. Paige will be in Tahsis from July 9th to 18th. She hopes to connect with as many business owners prior to and during this period.
