Post Fire Church Site Clean Up

On Saturday, several men and women arrived early in the morning to start the long and difficult process of cleaning up the scene of the fire that destroyed the Tahsis Christian Church, which was formerly the United church.  People came with tools and truck and machinery to get as much done as possible.

The board members of the church society provided cold drinks and sandwiches, and they shared a poignant story.  Under a huge amount of burnt collapsed debris, they found a teacup.  It was one of the "fragile" original ones that was too delicate to put in the dishwasher, and there it was, having survived the fire and the collapse of the building.  The teacup was presented to Sheila Orr, whose late husband Keith was the pastor at the church until his death last year.
