Every July, several ladies get together and do a marathon of sewing in the school kitchen. It's a convenient way to tackle large projects without the hassle of putting things away and the interruptions of everyday life. These fabulously creative women sew and quilt dozens of projects, and enjoy every minute of the week long getaway with good food, good friends, loads of inspiration and lots of laughs.
I'll never forget the first time I unknowingly walked in on this buzzing hive of activity. I was the wife of the new teacher, new to town, we didn't have a house yet, and I was going to the kitchen to do a load of laundry in my pyjamas. What a surprise!
