Visiting Author Linda Gilkeson

Yesterday we had a fun and informative day, with gardening expert Linda Gilkeson from Salt Spring Island.  We learned about gardening all year round in our specific area, addressing pest issues, and gardening challenges in a changing climate.  20 people came out for these free workshops sponsored by the Harvesting an Education grant, organized by Stephanie Olson and Aubrey Stewart.

It was great to get to know some of our neighbours from Gold River, and all in all, we had 19 participants who attended the workshops.

Lovely lunch as Westview Marina

We couldn't ask for better scenery or weather

Linda Gilkeson

We enjoyed lunch at Westview Marina in the beautiful weather, and a lovely potluck for dinner.  It was truly exciting to learn some new gardening techniques that work in our climate, to maximize our gardening potential!  Linda enjoyed her tour of the Tahsis Community Garden and had some specific tips for our beds there.

Here are her books, which are available through her website
