Tahsis is a remote village on the west coast of Vancouver Island. With only 400 residents, we don't have many of the conveniences of larger towns but we do have community spirit and lots to do in our spectacularly wild and beautiful environment.

Easter at Esperanza
Once again the 'neighbourhood' is invited to Easter service and a meal at Esperanza. This coming Sunday, March 31 boats will be available at the dock in Tahsis and Zeballos at 9:00 and 10:00. We will run boats at 8:00 as well if there are early birds of if the other boats are filled. Service will be at 11:00 and the meal will be served at 1:00. (Maybe not precisely.) :)
You can reply by phone 250-735-9523. Or you can contact Sasha Joseph on her Facebook page by private message.

Parents: Even if you returned the package to the school, you MUST call the Health Centre to book an appointment for March 13th. 250-934-6322. They were having some trouble with their phones today so if you do not get through, you can go directly to the health unit and book in person.

Spring break at the library
March 11 – April 2, 2024
For children 0-12 years old
Spring Break 2024: Our Ocean Friends celebrates the ocean and the many underwater creatures that inhabit the waters around us and features the book Otter Doesn’t Know by local Lyackson author Andrea Fritz.
From March 11 – April 2, we are hosting a special Otter Doesn’t Know Scavenger Hunt for children aged 0-12. Stop by your local branch to enter for a chance to win a copy of Otter Doesn’t Know and a library stuffie.
On Tuesday, March 19th at 5pm you can join us for a Virtual Event with Andrea Fritz. Andrea will share her knowledge of Coast Salish storytelling and how it relates to the art and learning. Andrea will read her story, Otter Doesn’t Know and if time permits, answer questions. This event is for children and families. To register, please send an email to kids@virl.bc.ca.
Be sure to also check out our spring break reading list, and don’t forget to check out our events calendar or pop by your local branch for more ways to celebrate Spring Break 2024.

By-election called
By-election scheduled in Tahsis to replace two resigned councillors
Tahsis residents will be going to the polls this spring for a by-election to replace two councillors who have recently resigned.
“In the last couple of months two members of council have resigned from council and so we’re having a by-election,” said Dawn Attorp, chief election officer for the village.
Councillors Douglas Elliott and Meggan Joseph have both resigned their positions as councillors. A by-election to replace them was announced on March 6 . Voting day will be on May 18 from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Tahsis recreation centre, with advance voting available on May 8 from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. also at the recreation centre.
Nomination forms are available immediately, but the official nomination period begins on April 2 and runs until 4 p.m. on April 12. Candidates must be nominated by five people who are eligible to vote in the election.
Documents are either available in person at the village office, or online.
Those interested in voting should be sure of their eligibility, and register to vote. Non-resident property electors can register either at the village office until 4:30 p.m. on March 26.
The village has sent out notices to all eligible electors, and has posted on social media, the village website and in public notice spaces.
More information on the by-election, registration, nomination and more can be found at the village of Tahsis website.
