Broom Busting in Tahsis

Broom busting is Tahsis is on now!  This is the message from Chuck:  Cut the BROOM in BLOOM! Its time to cut the Broom next to your home. Saturday 03 June lets go out and clear it from communal areas. Pile broom next to road for removal by Village Public Works!  Working in groups is safest, since there have been cougar sightings in town lately.

A Message from the Tahsis Community Garden Society

Learn about
Drip Irrigation
at the
Tahsis Community Garden
Sunday, May 28th
from 1 til 3 pm
Everyone Welcome
With great appreciation, the community garden recently received funding from the Tahsis Literacy Society for two drip irrigation systems, one for the Community Garden greenhouse and the other for the Farm to School (F2S) garden area.
The greenhouse system is operational.  For any community members interested in learning about drip irrigation, garden volunteers will be on hand this Sunday to demonstrate its benefits and provide information on installations.  Drop by anytime between 1 and 3 pm.

The Farm to School garden is currently ‘under construction’.  Its drip irrigation set up will use three different types of systems, and the installation will provide more of a ‘hands on’ learning experience for community members.  Date of this event to be determined.  A sign-up sheet for the F2S installation will be available on site on Sunday.

After a Long Break...

So much has happened in Tahsis since I last posted on the 24th of April!  I went away to visit family for 10 days, then went on another trip and have been back for a short time and whew!  Everyone's been busy while I was gone!

The biggest event was the Ubedam Theatre Society's presentation of Cricket and Claudette.  They sold over 100 tickets and put on a great show.

Another Ubedam Theatre Society event was a murder mystery party held at Sally's Grill, which was transformed into the speakeasy "The Cat's Meow" for the evening.  24 people came in character and had to solve a murder in their midst.  The roaring twenties was the inspiration for the story and costumes and everyone got into it in a big way!  Thanks to Stephanie O. for masterminding this fun night!

Another special announcement is that the Westview Marina is in full swing again this summer, welcoming fishers, and adventurers of all kinds to Tahsis.  I'll be posting soon about the Rock the Dock musicians every Friday.

Another event in early May was the Nootka Sound Economic Development Corporation ceremony to thank Tony Ellis and Frank Collins for being directors of that organization for many years.

Congratulations to the artist that won the Tahsis Days 2017 poster contest, Shannon Fassbender!  Beautiful work Shannon!
