CMESS Christmas Concert

How fun to watch the students of CMESS perform "The Magic Snow Globe" at the Christmas concert last night!  We also enjoyed the high school students who sang and played guitar with Mrs. Sanderson.

The PAC wrapped up their biggest fundraiser of the year and drew the winning raffle ticket for the giant stocking full of gifts.  The lucky winner was Dave Madill, who his wife reports is like a kid in a candy store while going through all the loot!  Congratulations Dave, and thank you to everyone for such generosity when purchasing tickets!  A special thank you to Allison, Mary, Harmony and Anna for really outdoing themselves with all that hard work organizing the stocking and drumming up all those prizes!

Another thank you to PAC for baking some treats to share with everyone at the concert, I made some treats along with Alice, Allison, Maureen and Aubrey.  There are some serious treat baking skills in this town!

Congratulations also to Kim Anderson, who was recognized by the School District last night for her 25 years at CMESS working with children of all ages as an Educational Assistant!  Well done, Kim!

Santa tours the town

Thank you to the Tahsis Volunteer Firefighters and the Tahsis Lions Club for driving Santa, Mrs. Claus and a few of the elves around town to deliver candy and wish everyone a Merry Christmas!  This is a popular annual tradition that we look forward to every December.

Captain Meares Elementary Secondary School Christmas Concert Coming Up

The CMESS Christmas Concert will be held on Wednesday, December 16th at the school gym at 7 pm.  Hope to see everyone there!  This is always a feel-good event, watching the children put on a show after weeks of support and encouragement and hard work from staff and students alike.  At the concert, the PAC group will be drawing the winning ticket for the giant Christmas stocking filled with presents, and that is an exciting event too!

A Visiting Colony

We have some loud guests occupying the docks and breakwaters down by Westview Marina and the Lodge at Tahsis Harbour... sea lions!  For 2 days now, they have been causing a ruckus with their constant barking, and posing for photographs.

From Canadian Geographic:  Groups of sea lions have many names depending on where they are: on land they are a colony, in water they are called a raft, during breeding seasons they're referred to as a rookery and when several females are in one male's territory, they're called a harem.

Community Christmas Dinner

We enjoyed a great event last night, a free Christmas dinner for the whole community.  It was organized by the Tahsis Seniors Society, held at the Tahsis Recreation Centre, catered by Santosh Sharma (with help from Theresa and Susan) from Oceanview Cafe, and funded by the New Horizons for Seniors federal grant.

Santa visited with generous gifts for every child in town, and Paul brought out a large collection of vintage toys for kids of all ages to play with, once we'd finished our excellent turkey and ham dinner with all the trimmings.

Thank you to all involved for such a wonderful evening!
