Vancouver Island Regional Library has 39 branches throughout the area to offer many resources to patrons of all ages. In Tahsis, to celebrate Family Literacy Day (January 27), 12 people dropped in to the local branch for some colouring, (can't get enough of the trend of adult colouring!) songs, puppets, computer games and stories.
The toddlers explored, rearranged some of the children section books and charmed everyone.
The teens and adults coloured, took turns engaging the little ones, and
had hilarious spoiler free discussions of the new Star Wars movie, and
traded music and fantasy book recommendations.
It was an incredibly stormy day, but inside the library was cheerful and lively! Thanks to everyone who dropped in. For more information on VIRL services, here is the website: VIRL
Tahsis is a remote village on the west coast of Vancouver Island. With only 400 residents, we don't have many of the conveniences of larger towns but we do have community spirit and lots to do in our spectacularly wild and beautiful environment.
